Michael Phillips BSc, PhD

Professor Phillips earned his PhD in Biochemistry (2000) at Washington State University. Following successful post-doctoral studies at the University of Barcelona (Spain) and Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (Germany), Dr. Phillips began a Ramón y Cajal tenure track fellowship at the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (Barcelona, Spain) in 2010. In 2016, he accepted a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto (Mississauga) in the Department of Biology and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022. His research focuses on plant metabolism, especially medicinal plants and medically useful terpenoids with relevance to pain research.
