Marie-Eve Martel M.A., Doctoral student in Psychology
I am a doctoral student in psychology and I have been involved in various projects on chronic pain over the past several years. I have a particular interest in the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for chronic pain. According to the American Psychological Association’s Division 12, ACT is a treatment with “strong research support” for chronic pain. However, accessibility to this type of treatment remains a challenge. Therefore, the development of web-based interventions can be a cost-effective solution. I am currently working with Dr. Frédérick Dionne, professor at l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, on the development of web-based ACT interventions for adults with chronic pain in Quebec. In February 2017, I completed an internship at the INPUT Pain Management Clinic, St-Thomas’ Hospital, London (England) and King’s College London (England) where I gained additional training in ACT treatment for adults with chronic pain.
